SINGLE REVIEW: 'Poolside' | Flossy Jones

Over the past few months I've been developing my music taste, venturing further across the UK and have discovered how insane the south coast's scene is. One artist I've grown to love is Brighton-based Flossy Jones who appeared on the scene at the beginning of 2019, and impressed right from those first notes. Last Friday, though, she unveiled her third release, Poolside, which I am, quite frankly, in love with.

Acoustic, electronic, and dream-pop like all in equal measure, Jones has produced a track that is right up there with the likes of Lana Del Rey and Lorde. Creating a dark, melancholic, almost enigmatic, reality through her music, I cannot get enough of this track.

The song has received high praise from BBC Radio Sussex, BBC Introducing, and Clash Magazine's Mat Smith described Poolside as "a hypnotic, languid pop song with an aching, mysterious narrative." Listeners are transported to a whole different world in just over four minutes as we sink into Jones' narrative.

This track is also accompanied by When It's All Over, an equally moving and smooth track. Both songs display cinematic instrumentals; you could just imagine them being in a coming-of-age, monochrome film. The whole 'vibe' surrounding Jones' music is completely ethereal and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.
