SINGLE REVIEW: 'Don't Push' | Concord Drive

Only really starting out in the last quarter of 2019, Wiltshire-based Concord Drive are a very new band to their already thriving music scene, and are doing their best at making themselves heard. The quintet is made up of Jacob Vincent, Matt Clark, Nathan Prothero, Martin Blunt and Jack Lewis. Back in August the lads released their debut single Bad Intentions; an upbeat, feelgood debut that gave us an insight into what kind of band Concord Drive wanted to be. They've done small gigs here and there, working their way around local pubs and music venues, getting people off their arses and onto their feet. This same energy has been extended with their latest release - as an early Christmas present for fans, Concord Drive released the addictive Don't Push on 21st December.

The initial idea for the single came from Prothero as he came up with the chords and structure for the track, and the rest of the band worked around these and developed the song from there. Vincent then wrote the lyrics and has created a song for the many, one that tells you not to worry about other people's views. I was told that the lyric "couldn't care about your background, you and I, we make the same pound" is representative of the person in your workplace that constantly breathes down your neck and tries to belittle you, whether it's of malicious intent or not. Ignore anyone who tells you what you can and can't do, and just do you, is what I think the boys are trying to say here. Don't "be someone you're not," regardless of how easy it is. Concord drive manage to put across an inspiring message whilst also making you dance - a win-win, really!

The reaction to Don't Push thus far has been positive, fans of Concord Drive are seeming to love it. Let's see where 2020 takes these lovely lads, eh?
