SINGLE REVIEW: 'Catch of the Day' | Near Mrs

If you've been reading the blog for a while, it's likely you'll recognise the name Near Mrs. I wrote a review of them and their music back in Septmember. Rather than re-writing an introduction to the boys, click here to be directed to that post where you can learn all there is to know about these Nottingham sweethearts.

Today I'm here to talk to you about the boys' upcoming single, Catch of the Day, which is due to be released on 21st February. Firstly, no, it's not about a fish. It's metaphorical, obviously, and who doesn't love a good hidden meaning? It's got the same upbeat tempo that appears in the boys' first two tracks (which I recommend you listen to whilst waiting to listen to this); quirky guitar riffs that cleverly match the rhythm of Webb's vocals, and beating bass drums are what this band does best. 4 minutes and 17 seconds of utter BLISS, this track is absolutely irresistible and you'll be head-bopping before you're even 30 seconds in.

Do I believe this is their best work yet? Yes, I do. Catch of the Day may only be their third single, but Near Mrs are consistent in their talent and are constantly trying to better themselves. The release of this single puts them in good stead for a strong 2020.

Fancy hearing this track live? Of course you do. Near Mrs are headlining Nottingham's Rough Trade on Friday 28th February. The lads have been nice enough and given you a week to learn the lyrics, so cop yourselves some tickets and go shout them back at the band. I love these boys, and you should too. Hit them up on their social media, stream their tracks, buy their gig tickets - support them in small ways that mean a lot and maybe, just maybe, they'll remember you when they're famous.
