SINGLE REVIEW: 'How Dare They' | Manifesto
Manifesto are a 5-piece indie rock band hailing from Manchester. Forming as a band in late 2018, Manifesto didn't release their debut single, Sweet Location, until early 2019. Throughout the year the quintet has grown a little fan base quite quickly, and they've been impressing fans with their sound in county-wide headlines and support slots. As many as you will know, Manchester's music scene is absolutely thriving and is growing at a rate of knots, as so many people nowadays are picking up instruments and having a go at making some tunes. As a result of the vastness of the scene it can be difficult for smaller artists to promote their tunes and get themselves heard, but Manifesto are giving it their all.
At the start of December they released sophomore single How Dare They, a typical, upbeat indie tune, but vocalist Jack Johnson's unique voice gives the track its own twist. In conversation with rhythm guitarist Kian Talbot I was told this track is the first one they put together as a band, and only recently remembered it. It tells a story of being put down for having 'unreachable' goals - much like some musicians are - but getting up and proving those critics wrong; this being shown in the chorus as we're asked "how dare they push away our dreams, tell us what we cannot achieve?" A complete crowd pleaser, Manifesto have produced a pretty damn good track.
Now in 2020, the boys are hoping to continue making as much music as possible, grasping any opportunity given to them - "we just want to enjoy the year."
